Franklinville Central Students Enjoy Using “Clickers” with StudyIsland.com
Peter Pendl’s Pendl's 6th grade class look forward to the Fridays when they are able to review lessons using the popular student response system nick-named “clickers”.The clickers integrate with a web-based assessment preparation program called “Study Island”.Study Island is an interactive program for students, offered by Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES to participating school districts.
By clicking on a remote control, each student answers a multiple choice question projected to a large screen, television or whiteboard.The questions are almost identical to the questions asked on the New York State grades 3-8 assessments.This tool is a real confidence builder for kids as one student does not know how another student responds.Mr. Pendl can view all the responses on his desktop computer screen and discuss the class answers before moving on to the next question.

Students will identify parts and functions of the respiratory and circulatory systems. They will examine ways to keep these two very important systems working efficiently through nutrition, exercise and healthy habits. Special emphasis will be placed on the negative effects of tobacco.
